At Alicky Pilates, we are dedicated to empowering individuals (and their babies!) to embrace a lifestyle of holistic wellness through movement, mindfulness, and nurturing treatments. Our expert-led classes and personalised programmes cater to individuals seeking to enhance their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing using the knowledge and techniques that Alicky has gained over a career of 20 years in the industry.
From before she could walk, Alicky was introduced to horses and competed at a high level throughout her teens and early twenties, being lucky enough to train with some of the top UK dressage and event riders. It was after sustaining an injury from a fall that Alicky decided to train as a physiotherapist and worked extensively both in the NHS and then privately, throughout all areas of rehabilitation. She had a special interest in the field of women's health and later in neurological rehabilitation. Alongside this, to enhance the rehabilitation of her own body, she trained as a Pilates matwork instructor in 2004 with the Pilates Foundation and then in 2007 completed the Pilates studio equipment course, particularly enjoying the variety of exercises the reformer can bring to a workout/ rehabilitation session. She has taught everyone from teens through to sports stars/actors and up to 90 year olds!
Alicky's style of using Pilates exercises alongside breathwork helps to bring a sense of calm to the workout and training in mindfulness, vagus nerve activation treatments and a calm, empathetic manner ensure clients finish their sessions feeling happy and relaxed, however hard they've worked!
Since having her own two children, Alicky has trained in baby massage and baby yoga after experiencing first hand the benefits they can bring to the developing baby. After watching both her children fall behind in their developmental milestones, in particular neither of them crawling, Alicky was inspired to learn more and train in this area to help babies along with the integration of primitive reflexes by using baby yoga and targeted exercises to help them hit their milestones.
